How much do searches cost?
Prices for search credits vary depending on how many you purchase. The following chart shows the different pricing tiers:

For example, 150 searches would cost $45: $40 for the first 100, and $0.10 each for the next 50.

Will you be able to fill in my family tree if I provide you with a few people?
Probably not. Our services are meant to connect you with online resources to help further your research, provide good sources, and help overcome brick walls. Effortless Ancestry itself cannot build your family tree for you, but it may be able to connect you with an online source that can.

Search Results
How long will it take to get my results?
Individual searches are usually completed within 15 minutes. Because the size and amount of information in a GEDCOM file varies greatly it is difficult to say how long it may take to complete a full GEDCOM search. We strive to complete even the largest GEDCOM files in under three days.

The times given above assume that all websites being searched are online. Some results may be delayed if there are problems accessing a site's information.

Why can't I see the details on some of the searches?
Many of the sources that Effortless Ancestry searches require subscriptions in order to see all of the details of a search. If you have a subscription to one of these services, you will be able to view all of the details by clicking on the view record image (). If you don't have a subscription, you may not be able to view the information at all, or only a limited amount of detail for the record.

Are you able to search ancestry in countries other than the United States?
At this time our online sources are predominately based on genealogy within the United States. However, we are working to add sources outside of the US.

Why do I get duplicate matches from the same source?
While it may look like you are getting duplicates within the same source, that it probably not the case. Many online databases accept user submissions (such as RootsWeb WorldConnect and FamilySearch.org's Ancestral File). In these databases it is not uncommon to end up with matches that may look the same but are in fact submissions by different users.

When you search newly added sources, does that cost me additional credits?
No. Searches include a lifetime of Search Assurance, meaning that we will continue to check your searches against newly added sources for no additional cost. You will be contacted via email when identify new matches.

What if you don't find any matches for an individual? Can I get a refund?
Unfortunately we can't guarantee that we will be able to find relevant matches for all individuals. If you submit a search that results in no matches being identified, you may contact us for a refund of that credit. However, canceling your search will prevent it from being searched against any new sources we add in the future.
